We are a 4-H family located near Lambertville, New Jersey.
As Homeschoolers, we have always kept pets of many varieties starting with rabbits. Since moving to a more rural area, we have been able to acquire more animals. A group of barn cats and a peacock adopted us by showing up in our yard and deciding that it was home. The peacock continues to grace our presence today as he spends time in our property as well as our neighbors. For a while we raised Jersey Wooly rabbits and enjoyed every minute of it. In the past few years, we made the choice to keep rabbits just as pets and now have Miniature Lops. We have also owned three miniature horses in the past, which we had for pleasure driving and of course, pasture pets. Unfortunately, we lost two of them to separate illness through the years, leaving our gelding Cookies alone. Cookies became depressed, and it was clear that he needed a friend right away. Another horse wasn't feasible for us at that point, so we ended up getting a young Nigerian Dwarf goat. They bonded right away, and Cookies was once again happy. And as any one with goats knows, you can not have just one. Goats must have at least one other goat friend. So, we got another, and another, and it just snowballed from there. We became involved with our local 4-H goat club and are now completely hooked on goats.
